NASA boy gets six months

A then 17-year-old hacker who penetrated NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center systems looking for somewhere to store downloaded movies has been sentenced to six months in federal prison.

It took ?hours? for technicians to find the problem, fix it and patch the system’s security holes, officials said, according to the Seattle Post-Intelligencer.

Gregory Aaron Herns, now 21, is a computer science student at Washington?s Mt Hood Community College, says the story, going on that his attorney, Michael R. Levine, said his client was just a kid when the crime took place:

“He was a computer geek – with all due respect.”
