Lufthansa became the first commercial carrier in the world to offer broadband Internet in January, when it started a test phase with Connexion on certain transatlantic flights.

At the time airline officials said it would likely cost passengers 30 euros ($35.44) per flight to check their email and surf the web. The airline said on Tuesday it was considering different payment options including using up bonus miles or a flat fee.
