{"id":882,"date":"2010-07-05T13:13:21","date_gmt":"2010-07-05T06:13:21","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/deepquest.code511.com\/blog\/?p=882"},"modified":"2010-07-05T13:13:21","modified_gmt":"2010-07-05T06:13:21","slug":"itunes-accounts-app-store-hacked","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deepquest.code511.com\/blog\/2010\/07\/itunes-accounts-app-store-hacked\/","title":{"rendered":"iTunes accounts, App Store hacked"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Various blogs are reporting that it appears some iTunes customer  accounts have been hacked and that funds from those accounts may have  been used to purchase apps in the iTunes App Store.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Sunday, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.engadget.com\/2010\/07\/04\/inexplicable-rise-in-iphone-devs-app-store-sales-connected-to-i\/\">Engadget  reported<\/a> an inexplicable uptick in sales of book apps by a  developer identified as Thuat Nguyen. According to the blog, at the time  of writing its report, Nguyen apps accounted for 42 of the top 50 books  by revenue in the Books section of the iTunes App Store. Engadget went  on to mention &#8220;a number of people reporting up to hundreds of dollars  being spent unwillingly from their iTunes account to these specific  books.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>Blog <a href=\"http:\/\/thenextweb.com\/apple\/2010\/07\/04\/app-store-hacked\/\">TNW  Apple<\/a> reported that the phenomenon appeared to extend beyond apps  by one developer, and that it seemed to be international in scope. It  also ran excerpts from several posts to the <a href=\"http:\/\/forums.macrumors.com\/showthread.php?t=407990&amp;highlight=itunes+hacked&amp;page=5%22\">MacRumors:  Forums Web site<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;Yesterday my credit union contacted me saying there was suspicious  activity on my debit card.&#8221; TNW Apple quoted one post as saying. &#8220;Sure  enough over 10 transactions in the $40-$50 area all on iTunes equaling  to $558.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>A call made by CNET to Apple for comment was not returned by publication  time.<\/p>\n<p>Despite roaring sales for its new products, <a href=\"http:\/\/news.cnet.com\/8301-13579_3-20006880-37.html\">Apple<\/a> has  been getting a bit bruised lately.
