{"id":400,"date":"2006-08-16T19:26:38","date_gmt":"2006-08-16T12:26:38","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"2006-08-16T19:26:38","modified_gmt":"2006-08-16T12:26:38","slug":"most-college-students-vulnerable-to-cybercrime","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/deepquest.code511.com\/blog\/2006\/08\/most-college-students-vulnerable-to-cybercrime\/","title":{"rendered":"Most college students vulnerable to cybercrime"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A CompUSA survey of US college students<br \/>\n* 88% keep on their computer desk tops and laptops the kind of info that  could get their identity stolen if that computer was stolen or broken into<br \/>\n* 41% ignorant of the concept of phishing<br \/>\n* 21% had been tempted to give personal private info to web sites where they unsure of the security or of the source of the request for their personal data<br \/>\n* 9% had already responded to phishing e-mails<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>There was an incident with Stanford&#8217;s Axess system, where a student&#8217;s<br \/>\naccount was cracked, then someone else opened credit in the student&#8217;s name,<br \/>\nintercepting that student&#8217;s money.  That case has been solved.<\/p>\n<p>> Increased cases of identity theft have led the Office of the Inspector<br \/>\n> General at the U.S. Department of Education to establish a Web site,<br \/>\n> [url=http:\/\/www.ed.gov\/misused,]www.ed.gov\/misused,[\/url] dedicated to informing students and parents about<br \/>\n> identity theft.
