Salcedo and two of his accomplices, Adam Botbyl and Paul Timmins, setup a van in one of the Lowe?s parking lots rigged with several Wi-Fi antennas and some special tools.<!--more--><\/p>\n<p>They managed to sniff enough information from an unsecured access point to grant them access to the Lowe?s national computer system where they installed a back door to capture credit card information. <\/p>\n<p>Hacking for fun is one thing, but as soon as you mess with the big banks you are in some deep trouble. Salcedo last week was sentenced to 9 years in prison, the longest period of time ever sentenced to a computer hacker in the United States, even Kevin Mitnick was only sentenced to 5 years and 8 months.
