Yaha Virus Uses Netizens as Pawns
According to the Indian Snakes, authors of the worm known as Yaha, the latest worm was written to retaliate against Pakistani hackers who, the Snakes charge, are defacing websites based in India.
Security experts said the new worm isn’t a huge threat, but rued the fact that ordinary windows users have become pawns in the hackers’ power struggle.
“Virus writers have long been rationalizing their actions by saying they create viruses for good reasons,” said Canadian security researcher Ian Murray. “I suppose some of them may truly believe they have a righteous cause, but mostly I believe they write the virus first and come up with the reason for the virus later.
